A few practical checks can make the next stop easier—and help you decide when to change the plan.
Check access before following a route
A line on a map is not permission to ride. Check current access information and local signs, respect closures and choose another route when access is uncertain.
For a Trans Euro Trail trip, use the official TET website and read its Code of Conduct.
Plan around your own fuel range
Use your bike’s measured range with its actual load and riding conditions. Identify fuel stops and an alternative before heading into a remote section. Save essential navigation for offline use.
Check the bike and its load
Follow the motorcycle manufacturer’s pre-ride checks. Inspect luggage security and keep cables and accessories clear of moving or hot components. Know where your tools and repair supplies are packed.
Check ABS when the riding changes
Know which ABS mode is active before setting off. A memory module may restore the previous setting after a restart. Select and verify full ABS operation before returning to public roads.
Leave room to turn around
Weather, fatigue and surface conditions can change the day. Allow time for a detour and avoid treating a planned distance as a requirement.
